Japan Film Festival 2013

Traditionally I've always tried to volunteer in some form of Japanese event because I like Japan. Last year I had so much fun volunteering for it and even extended our agree schedule by a day to some cultural promotion. I guess we bonded well with the coordinator.

Naturally we volunteer again this year. Unfortunately this year we didn't had as much fun as I thought we would. First Coordinator-san went back Japan and we had a newbie who was fairly disorganized. Japan foundation is tight arse as well. Instead of the old booklet advertising, they tried to use social media like facebook and printed a pamphlet like handout that can be folded into origami. Like this..good idea but the pick up is slow and we were left we tons of paper to fold boxes to put more paper.

This time we did not volunteer for any pre-festival activity, instead we volunteer on 2 event days. We also did not bond well with our shift mates but we did get a photo shot with one of the directors. I have never had my picture taken with a director. When he is famous I will blog the picture up.

Overall I think the verdict wasn't very good for this round of volunteer work. Not to sure if we are gonna volunteer again next year.
